Bryan Barge is a boy in Zoe's class who was first mentioned by Zoe on March 5th, 2011 as the boy she likes, but doesn't know she exists. She is in bed because this was part of a story where she is sick.

Bryan Barge is in the strip for the first time, off-screen, two days later, on March 7th, 2011 (shown below). Zoe got over her fever and was now able to go back to school. Hammie points out that the boy Zoe likes is right "over there," and Zoe replies that he doesn't know she exists. In an attempt to either annoy Zoe or help her, Hammie pushes her over (since it isn't shown where she ended up, it's assumed she knocked into him when she fell to the ground). When she comes back he says "Problem solved. Now he knows you're alive." To which Zoe replies angrily "Which is more than they'll be saying about you."
